John-Paul Voelkel, M.D.
Dr. Voelkel is the newest member of CCDD, having joined the practice in August 2011. A native of Opelika, he has lived in Alabama his entire life. He earned a BS in Biology and Pre-medical sciences at the University of Alabama, graduating magna cum laude in 2001. He attended the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, graduating in 2005. From 2005 to 2008 he completed a three-year internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, followed by a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of South Alabama, completing his training in June 2011. Dr Voelkel is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology/Hepatology. His clinical expertise includes colon cancer screening, therapeutic endoscopy, and hemorrhoid band ligation. He has privileges at Crestwood Medical Center, Huntsville Endoscopy Center, and Madison Surgery Center. His offices are located at: 119 Longwood Dr. in Huntsville; One Hospital Dr. at Crestwood Medical Center; and 460 Lanier Rd. in Madison.
Dr. Voelkel is married and has three children. In addition to being an avid college football fan, his outside interests include playing the piano, shooting skeet, and spending time with his family and pugs.
